DAVID WOZNIAK

A native of Buffalo, NY, David Wozniak is an experienced soloist, teacher, repair technician, conductor, and chamber musician. He has performed with the Mobile (AL) Symphony Orchestra, the Gulf Coast (MS) Symphony Orchestra, and the FestivalSouth (MS) Festival Orchestra. Previous guest artist engagements include Queens College(NY), Mars Hill (NC) University, San Diego State University, and the University of Louisville for their renowned New Music Festival. An avid proponent of new music, David has worked with many composers including Gregg Rossetti, Jonathan David, Martha Sullivan, Sy Brandon, Marc Satterwhite, and Alan Theissen. David’s premiere recording, American Fusion, was released on Emeritus Records and featured four world-premiere recordings. David earned degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi and Fredonia State University, where he studied with Lawrence Gwozdz and Wildy Zumwalt, respectively. He also has received coaching from Harry-Kinross White. Besides his work as a saxophonist, David has performance and teaching experience on all of the woodwinds. Additionally, he studied wind conducting under Thomas Fraschillo. David is a member of the North American Saxophone Alliance, the National Association of Professional Band Instrument Repair Technicians, the International Double Reed Society, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and was recently honored as a “Friend of the Arts” by Sigma Alpha Iota.

He teaches at the Borough of Manhattan Community College, in addition to his private studio.


MELISSA WOZNIAK

Melissa is a soprano with a love of new vocal music. Before relocating to Buffalo, she sang with C4: The Choral Composer/Conductor Collective in NYC, a new-music choral ensemble through which she has performed countless premieres of new works; she also serves on their board as treasurer. For the past ten years, she was a staff singer/soloist at the First Presbyterian Church of Oyster Bay (Long Island). Past engagements include the Summer of Sacred Music at St. Bartholomew’s Church (NYC), Khorikos, and Essential Voices USA. After arriving in WNY, Melissa found a place with the Westminster Presbyterian Church Schola and the Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus. She is a new but active member of the Buffalo Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity. Melissa teaches private voice lessons and specializes in the developing voice of middle and high school students. She has prepared her singers for NYSSMA adjudications, extracurricular and college auditions, competitions, and has tutored them in music theory and ear training. She also loves to teach early childhood music and movement classes, and has eight years of experience as a general music and choral educator. Melissa received her bachelors degree from SUNY Fredonia and has completed graduate courses at the University of Southern Mississippi. Melissa and her husband, David, opened WozniakMusic in April 2022 and is looking forward to serving the WNY musical community!
